Not only strong, but supported

2 Chronicles 16:9 (Contemporary English Version)
“The LORD keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strength to those whose
hearts are loyal to him.”

Many people try to solve everything by themselves. Appearing strong gives security. Yet there comes a moment when personal strength falls short. This text shows that faith is not an extra burden, but real support.

Historical background
These words were spoken to King Asa. Earlier he had experienced that trusting God brought calm in a time of crisis. Later he chose political help from a neighboring country. That seemed wise and quickly effective. Yet the prophet pointed out that he had moved his deepest security from God to people.
In that world power depended on armies and treaties. Whoever had the right ally felt safe. The idea that God Himself gives support to those who seek Him broke that thinking. Not power determines the outcome, but the direction of the heart.

Examples from church and society
In churches attention is sometimes focused mainly on resources: budget, buildings, attendance numbers. But small communities where people carry one another often prove more resilient.
At work organizations rely on systems and control. Yet teams endure longer when there is trust and honesty.
In families someone may want to carry all problems alone. Only when help is asked and shared does calm arise. Some call dependence weakness, yet it prevents exhaustion.

Final thought
People search for security outside themselves, but forget they can also be supported. Trust changes how a burden is experienced.

Take this with you
You do not have to control everything.
Dare to expect support.
Honest trust creates space.

In conclusion
2 Chronicles shows that God does not watch from a distance. He looks for people to support. Whoever learns to let go often discovers new strength that does not come from themselves.
