Faith gives you something to hold on to when you can't see it yet

Hebrews 11:1-3 (Contemporary English Version)
Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.
We understand that the world was created by God’s word, so what we see was made
from things that cannot be seen.

Encouragement

Sometimes you want certainty, but you don't have it. You are waiting for recovery, for work, for peace in your family, or for peace of mind. Then faith feels like walking in the dark. But Hebrews says: faith is not blind guesswork. Faith is support: you trust God, even when you don't yet see the result.

This is recognisable in the church. Someone has been praying for a long time for a child who has lost their way. There has been no breakthrough yet, but that parent continues to pray and still comes to church. Not because everything is fine, but because God is trustworthy.

In society, you see it in people who are going through a difficult period—illness, debt, grief—and yet are taking small steps: asking for help, keeping appointments, starting over. That requires faith: trusting that things can get better, even if you cannot yet prove it.

Hebrews 11:3 lifts your gaze even higher. Everything that exists began with God's word. That means your life is not a coincidence without purpose. The God who spoke and created the universe can also speak in your chaos. He can give direction where you only see questions.

Ask to pause and reflect

What do you need faith for right now: your health, your relationship, your future, your inner peace? And what is one small step you can take today to show that you trust God?

Take this with you

  • Faith is a foundation, not just a feeling.
  • God often works step by step, not all at once.
  • Start small: pray honestly, ask for help, persevere.

Final thought

You don't have to see everything first in order to trust. Faith is placing your hand in God's hand. He is the same God who spoke and it came to be. That is why you can keep hope alive.
