God finishes what He begins

Genesis 1:7 (Contemporary English Version)
“God made the dome and separated the water under the dome from the water above
it. And that is what happened.”

Historical background
At this stage of creation, you see that God not only speaks, but also carries out what He has said. In the understanding of the ancient world, the sky was something mysterious, a kind of separation between above and below. Here it becomes clear that this separation is not accidental, but a deliberate act of God. What He speaks, He also brings into being. The words “and that is what happened” show that God’s will becomes reality. His speaking and acting are one.

What does this mean for our lives?
You may have started something and not finished it. Or had plans that never really took shape. This text shows that God works differently. What He begins, He completes. That gives confidence, also for your life.

In the church you see this when people grow step by step in faith. It starts small, but God continues His work. In society you see it when something good is built—a project, a community, a process of restoration. Things that were once only words become reality through perseverance and direction.

Examples from daily life
Think of someone going through a difficult period and slowly rebuilding. At first there is only a desire for change. But step by step, restoration comes. What began as an idea becomes reality.

Or think of a group of people starting something together, such as helping others. At first it seems small and uncertain. But by continuing, something is created that truly makes a difference.

Encouragement
God does not let go of what He has begun, not even in your life. You may not yet see the final result, but He is at work. His work does not stop halfway.

Final thought
“And that is what happened”—this is a sentence full of certainty. What God speaks, happens. That means you can trust that He will also complete in your life what He has begun. Step by step, He brings order, growth, and fulfillment. Keep building on that.
