Living with Christ, a new beginning

Galatians 2:19-20 (Contemporary English Version)
“I have been nailed to the cross with Christ. I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And
while I am still alive, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for
me.”

Historical background
The letter to the Galatians was written by the apostle Paul to young Christian communities. At that time, there was a lot of confusion. Some people said you first had to follow many religious rules to truly belong to God. Paul makes it clear that it is not about rules, but about a relationship. He explains that the old life, focused on yourself and on performance, is over. Through Jesus, something new begins: a life in which He is central.

What does this mean for you and me?
Maybe you recognize that feeling: trying to be good enough for God or for others, thinking you have to prove that you matter. But Paul says something freeing. You no longer have to be the center of everything. You can live from what Jesus has already done.

In the church, you sometimes see people focused on appearances: the right words, the right attitude. But real life with Christ often happens in the ordinary. Someone who prays honestly, someone who dares to share their weakness, someone who helps another without expecting anything in return.

The same is true in society. Not everything revolves around success or performance. A parent who makes time for their child, a friend who listens without judgment, a colleague who is faithful and reliable—these are signs of a life in which Christ becomes visible.

An encouraging insight
Living with Christ does not mean everything suddenly becomes easy. But you are no longer alone. He lives in you. That changes how you see, how you love, and how you deal with difficult moments.

Maybe you sometimes feel like you fall short. Yet this text says: your value is not in what you do, but in what He has done for you. That brings peace and direction.

Final thought
“He loved me and gave his life for me.” – Galatians 2:20 (CEV)

This is the heart of it: you are loved. Not because you do everything right, but because He has chosen you. From that love, you can live—every single day.
