Genesis 1:24-25 (Contemporary English Version)
"God said, 'I command the earth to produce all kinds of animals, tame and wild, including the small crawling creatures.' And it happened. God made every one of them, and he saw that they were good."
God filled the world with life
At the beginning of the Bible, we see God shaping the world step by step. After creating light, seas, and plants, He filled the land with life. Large and small animals, wild and tame creatures, each received their own place in creation. When God looked at His work, He spoke a remarkable verdict: "It was good." These words show that the world did not come into existence by chance but flows from God's wisdom, care, and love.
The historical background makes this message even more powerful. Many nations surrounding Israel believed that nature was controlled by various gods and mysterious forces. Genesis tells a very different story. There is one Creator who made everything and continues to sustain it. The earth is not the product of chance or chaos, but a world in which God's order, wisdom, and purpose are clearly visible.
God's signature can be seen everywhere
When we look around us, we discover something of God's character. The variety of animals, the beauty of nature, and the harmony of life reveal how great and wise God is. Every part of creation carries, as it were, His signature. The Creator who paid attention to the birds of the air, the animals of the land, and every living thing also pays attention to our lives. We are not unimportant or forgotten in His sight.
We see this even today. In the church, people experience God's strength during difficult circumstances. In society, we see His care through friendships, help from others, daily provisions, and new opportunities that unexpectedly come our way. His goodness is still visible to those who learn to look for it.
Wonder leads to trust
Creation invites us to pause and reflect. A sunrise, a blooming tree, the song of birds, or the birth of new life reminds us that God is still at work. When we look with wonder at what He has made, our trust in Him often grows as well. The God who devoted such care to His creation does not abandon the work of His hands.
Remember this
The world is not an accident. God's goodness is visible in His creation. The Creator who cares for nature also cares for people. Wonder opens the door to trust, and trust helps us look toward the future with hope.’
Final thought
Genesis 1:24-25 shows us that God's work is good. When He looked at His creation, He saw beauty, order, and life. This tells us something about His character. God does not make mistakes, nor does He lose sight of His work. The same God who filled the earth with life still sees every person today.
When we doubt our value or significance, creation points us back to this truth: we live in a world that has been made and sustained by God's hand. Therefore, we can trust that the Creator who cares for His creation also cares for us—today, tomorrow, and every day after that.
