The Word that remains

John 1:1 (KJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Encouragement: a solid start
Sometimes life feels like you have to start over and over again: a new work week, a
difficult choice, a conversation you keep putting off, or worries that just won't go away.
That's why it's powerful that John doesn't start with your achievements, but with Who
was already there: the Word. Even before your doubts, before your mistakes, before
your weariness — God was already there, close and reliable.

John says that the Word was with God and was God. That means God is not vague or
distant. He makes Himself known. He speaks, guides, and remains the same. When
everything around you shifts — opinions, news, relationships, work — there is One
who does not move with the storm.

In church
When people mourn, you often see that one Bible verse, one prayer, or one song
suddenly provides support. Not because it solves everything, but because it refocuses
you on God who remains.

In society
When faced with stress, pressure to perform, and loneliness, many people seek
stability in success or control. But that quickly breaks down. John points to a
foundation that does not collapse: God's presence and truth.

A moment to reflect
What am I building my “beginning” on today: on my own control, or on the Word
that is with God and is God?

Closing thought
John 1:1 encourages us: your life is not up in the air, because God was there first, is
there now, and remains.

Take this with you today

This week, choose one specific moment each day (e.g. when you get up) to read John
1:1 aloud. Then write down in one sentence: ‘Today I trust You with...’ and name one
concern or choice.

In this way, you practice letting God carry your beginning, not your own strength.
