Lamentations 3:22–23 (CEV):
“The Lord’s love never ends! His mercies never stop. They are new every morning,
Lord; your loyalty is great.”
Sometimes the world feels harsh and unfair. War, division, misunderstanding, and pain affect people deeply. Yet the Bible shows that hope does not disappear, even when everything seems dark. In Lamentations 3:22–23 we read that God’s faithfulness begins again every single day.
Historical background
The Bible book Lamentations was written after the destruction of Jerusalem (586 BC). The people had lost everything: their city, their safety, and their future. The writer complains, weeps, and is honest about the pain. But in the middle of that sorrow, something remarkable is heard: God has not forgotten His people.
Precisely in a time of chaos and guilt, it is said that God’s love does not end and that each new day brings new mercy. That is what makes this text so powerful, even today.
Examples from the church and society
- In the church: Congregations that welcome people who have fled from war. Despite limited resources, there is care, prayer, and practical help.
- In society: Volunteers who support lonely elderly people or those without a home. Small acts make a big difference.
- Personal: People who, after loss or illness, still learn to say: today I am alive, and today there is enough grace.
These examples show that hope does not have to be big or spectacular. Sometimes hope is found in staying faithful, day after day.
Take this with you
- It is okay to complain; God can handle our honesty.
- Hope often grows slowly, not all at once.
- Every new day is a new beginning, even if yesterday was heavy.
Final thought
Hope is not denying pain, but trusting that pain does not have the final word.
In closing
Lamentations 3:22–23 (CEV):
“The Lord’s love never ends! His mercies never stop. They are new every morning, Lord; your loyalty is great.”
Recommendation: Read these words quietly, perhaps every morning. Let them be an anchor for your day.
