John 14:7 (Contemporary English Version)
"If you had known me, you would have known my Father too. From now on you do know him, and you have seen him."

A message of comfort and hope

Jesus spoke these words during His last evening with His disciples. It was a moment filled with uncertainty. His followers heard that He would soon leave them, and they did not fully understand what was about to happen. Their hearts were filled with questions, fear, and confusion. It was in those circumstances that Jesus spoke words that could bring peace and assurance. He did not point them to their problems, but to the Father. Whoever knows Jesus also knows God.

The historical background makes this statement even more remarkable. In Jesus’ time, many people longed for a deeper knowledge of God. They knew the Scriptures and religious traditions, yet they desired to truly understand who God was. Jesus made it clear that God had not remained hidden. In His life, God became visible. Whoever looked at Jesus saw how God loves, forgives, helps, and reaches out to people.

The Heart of God Becomes Visible

Many people think that God is distant or difficult to understand. Some see Him as strict, remote, or unreachable. Jesus presents a completely different picture. In everything He did, the heart of God became visible. When He healed the sick, people saw God’s compassion. When He forgave sinners, they saw God’s grace. When He encouraged people, they heard God’s loving voice.

The same is true today. In the church, we hear stories of people who experience God’s comfort during grief, illness, or loss. In society, we see people finding strength to continue because they have placed their trust in Jesus. Especially when human solutions fall short, many discover that God is near and cares deeply.

A Life Close to God

Jesus did not come only to tell people about God. He came to bring people into a living relationship with God. Through Him, we come to know the Father as a God of love, faithfulness, and grace. The more we get to know Jesus through the Bible, prayer, and trust, the more we discover God’s character.

This changes the way we look at life. We do not have to carry everything on our own. God knows our worries, questions, and struggles. He invites us to live close to Him and trust His guidance.

Final Thought

In Jesus, God has revealed Himself to the world. Because of that, we do not have to wonder what God is like. Whoever looks at Jesus discovers God’s love, grace, patience, and faithfulness. He is not a distant God, but a Father who seeks people, understands them, and invites them to come to Him. Whoever comes to know Jesus not only discovers the way to God, but also meets a Father who welcomes with open arms and never lets go.
