3 John 1:11 (Contemporary English Version)
"My dear friend, don't follow the bad example of others. Follow the good example instead. People who do good are God's children, but people who do evil don't really know God."

Choose what is good

Every choice matters

Every day you make choices. Some may seem small, but they can have a great impact on your own life and on the lives of others. We live in a time when many voices compete for our attention. Not everything that is popular is good. That is why God invites you not to simply follow the crowd, but to choose what is honest, loving, and right. He knows your heart and wants to help you live a life that reflects hope, peace, and love.

A timeless message of hope

The apostle John wrote this letter to Gaius, a believer who was known for his faithfulness, love, and hospitality. In the early Christian churches there were people who encouraged and served others, but there were also those who sought power, recognition, and personal honor. John encouraged Gaius not to follow bad examples, but to remain faithful to God. That message is just as relevant today. God is not asking for perfection. He is looking for a heart that chooses Him day after day.

Doing good changes lives

Even today, doing good often begins with small choices. A kind word, honest actions, forgiving someone, giving your attention, or offering a helping hand can mean more than you realize. In the church, people are encouraged through love and care. In society, one act of kindness can restore hope and build trust. God uses ordinary people to make His love visible.

Jesus is our example

Jesus showed us what true love looks like. He served others, forgave those who had wronged Him, and gave hope to people who felt rejected and forgotten. He invites you to follow Him too. Through His strength, you can do what is right, even when it is difficult. His love changes not only your actions but also your heart.

Final thought

3 John 1:11 reminds us that every choice matters. Do not let yourself be guided by bad examples, but by God's love. Whoever follows Jesus and chooses what is good brings light, hope, and peace into the lives of others. God wants to use you, right where you are today, to make a difference.
