Hold on to Your Hope, Jesus is Coming Back!

Sometimes it seems as though everything around you is changing. The news makes you anxious, you worry about your family, and the future seems uncertain. Perhaps you try to keep everything under control while fear takes up more and more space in your heart. Where can you find security when life is so fragile? The Bible points you to a hope that reaches beyond today.

1 Peter 1:13 – Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how God will treat you with undeserved grace when Jesus Christ appears.

Historical Background – Hope in an Uncertain World

Peter wrote to Christians in several Roman provinces of Asia Minor, in what is now Turkey. They lived among people with different religions and customs. Their faith in Jesus could lead to ridicule, rejection, and exclusion from society.

Peter encouraged them to remain steadfast. He used the image of someone gathering up their long garments so they could move freely and get to work.

In the same way, believers were to prepare their minds: think clearly, live watchfully, and place their hope completely in the grace that Christ will bring at His return.

True Hope Begins with God's Grace

Perhaps you recognize that uncertainty. At work, you hardly dare to speak about your faith. Or you sit in church on Sunday while your thoughts are already occupied with Monday's problems.

Peter does not ask us to deny our difficulties. He teaches us to look beyond our circumstances.

Christian hope is not wishful thinking. It rests on Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. His return means that God's work of redemption will reach its completion.

Final Thought – What Are You Building Your Future On?

Perhaps you rely mainly on yourself because you are afraid of losing control. But money, health, and human security remain fragile.

Jesus invites you to come to Him with your guilt, worries, and uncertainty. His grace is not a reward for good deeds, but a gift you may receive through faith.

What would change if you shared your worries with Jesus today and entrusted your future to Him? With Him, you can make a new beginning and find a hope that reaches beyond this life.

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, You know my worries and uncertainties. Forgive my sins and renew my thoughts. Help me think clearly and not be ruled by fear. Teach me to trust in Your grace, to live close to You every day, and to look forward with joyful expectation to Your return. Amen.
