Luke 21:33 – Contemporary English Version
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.”
Words of hope in troubled times
When Jesus spoke these words, many people were living with fear and uncertainty. There were political tensions, threats of war, and major changes in society. People did not know what the future would bring. Yet in the middle of that uncertainty, Jesus spoke words of peace and hope. He said that everything on earth may change, but God’s words will always remain.
Those words gave strength to people back then, and they still speak closely to the heart today. Even now, many people live with worries. People worry about health, relationships, work, finances, and the future of the world. Things that once seemed stable and secure can suddenly change.
Yet Jesus points to something that never shakes: God’s faithfulness remains the same.
When life feels heavy and uncertain
Everyone experiences moments when life becomes confusing or difficult. Sometimes people are disappointed by others. Sometimes grief, loss, or worry brings deep unrest. Even in the church, people can struggle with doubt, discouragement, or exhaustion.
Yet God’s words still stand firm.
That does not mean problems immediately disappear, but it does mean that God’s promises do not change. His love does not depend on circumstances or feelings. What God says remains trustworthy, even when everything around us feels uncertain.
Perhaps you know how one kind word from someone can already bring peace on a difficult day. How much stronger, then, are the words of God, which remain through all generations.
God’s words give direction and hope
In a society where opinions constantly change, many people search for something solid to hold on to. One day hope seems strong, the next day fear or confusion takes over. Jesus reminds people that God’s truth does not change.
His words give direction to people who feel lost. They bring peace to a restless heart and new courage to people who are close to losing hope.
Just as an anchor holds a ship steady during a storm, God’s words can hold a person steady in difficult times.
Final thought
Luke 21:33 shows that everything on earth is temporary, but God’s words will last forever. People change, circumstances change, but God’s faithfulness never changes. That is why you can still hold on to hope today, even when the future feels uncertain.
