Galatians 5:16–17 (Contemporary English Version)
"If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires. Our desires fight against God's Spirit, and the Spirit fights against our desires. They are enemies of each other, and this keeps you from doing whatever you want."

Live in the power and freedom of God's Spirit

Strength for every day

Everyone experiences an inner struggle. Perhaps you want to be more patient, forgive more quickly, or live with greater peace, yet old habits or worries keep returning. God does not ask you to overcome everything by your own strength. He invites you to be led by the Holy Spirit. His Spirit gives strength, wisdom, and peace. Day by day, He changes you from the inside and helps you live the life God intended for you.

A message from history

Paul wrote this letter to the churches in Galatia. Many Christians believed they had to earn God's approval by keeping religious rules. Paul explained that a new life does not begin with human effort but with God's grace and the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not our own strength, but God's power, that brings lasting change and true freedom.

God's Spirit is still at work today

People today also live under pressure from expectations, social media, and the fast pace of life. Yet God's Spirit is still at work. In churches, people forgive one another, pray together, and care for those who are struggling. In society, parents choose loving patience, co-workers remain honest under pressure, and volunteers selflessly serve those in need. In these everyday actions, God's love becomes visible.

Final thought

Perhaps you recognize the inner struggle Paul describes. Then remember that you are not alone. Jesus Christ gives His Holy Spirit to everyone who trusts in Him. He brings peace in times of anxiety, strength in weakness, and hope for every new day. “If you are guided by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:16 (Contemporary English Version).
