Sometimes your worries become so overwhelming that you no longer know how to move forward. You receive bad news about your health, financial problems keep piling up, or tensions within your family seem impossible to resolve. You try to stay strong, but deep inside you feel afraid. It is precisely when our own abilities fall short that the Bible shows us where we can turn for help.
2 Chronicles 20:6 – Contemporary English Version (CEV)
You, LORD, are the God our ancestors worshiped, and you are the ruler of all nations. You are so powerful that no one can defeat you.
Historical Background – A King Facing an Overwhelming Enemy
King Jehoshaphat ruled over Judah when enemy armies threatened his land. The danger was serious, and the people became afraid.
Jehoshaphat realized that his army was not strong enough to win this battle on its own.
So he called the people together to fast and seek God's help. Men, women, and children gathered before the temple.
In his prayer, Jehoshaphat acknowledged that God rules over all earthly kingdoms. No human power can equal His authority.
His words were not a denial of the danger. Instead, he openly acknowledged his own helplessness and placed his trust in God's strength.
You Do Not Have to Carry Your Battles Alone
Perhaps you recognize Jehoshaphat's fear. You are praying for a sick family member, struggling with debt, or trying to restore a damaged relationship.
Churches, too, can face division, disappointment, and serious concerns about the future.
Jehoshaphat's example teaches us that having faith does not mean you are never afraid. You can bring your worries honestly before God.
Prayer is not about trying to make God carry out our plans. It is about acknowledging that we need His wisdom and guidance.
God does not promise that every difficulty will disappear immediately. But His power and love do not depend on our circumstances.
Final Thought – Where Do You Find Your Strength?
Perhaps you have grown tired of trying to hold everything together.
Jesus Christ shows us how God's power and love come together. He carried our sins on the cross and conquered death through His resurrection.
Through Him, we can receive forgiveness, be reconciled to God, and make a new beginning.
Would you be willing to entrust your fears, guilt, and worries to Jesus today and ask Him to give you strength, peace, and direction?
A Prayer
Lord Jesus, You know my worries, my fears, and the problems for which I can see no solution. Sometimes I try to carry everything on my own. Forgive my sins and renew my heart. Give me wisdom when making difficult decisions, courage when problems seem overwhelming, and peace when answers do not come. Teach me to trust in Your strength and follow Your guidance every day. Amen.
