Perhaps you have been praying for months for healing, peace in your family, or a child who has turned away from the faith. You have brought your worries before the Lord, but nothing seems to change. Sometimes you wonder: Does God really hear me? It is precisely when you begin to lose courage that Jesus invites you to keep praying and trusting in God's faithfulness.
Matthew 7:7–8 – Contemporary English Version (CEV)
7 Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. 8 Everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And the door will be opened for everyone who knocks.
Historical Background – Jesus Teaches Us to Trust
Jesus spoke these words during the Sermon on the Mount. His listeners lived under Roman rule and were familiar with poverty, uncertainty, and social tensions. Jesus taught them about the Kingdom of God. He made it clear that prayer was not a complicated religious ritual. They could come to their heavenly Father as His children, knowing that He understood their needs and listened to them.
The Power of Prayer – Trusting in God's Wisdom
Perhaps you know someone in your church who has been praying for years for a family member who has abandoned the faith. Or a family that is barely making ends meet because of financial difficulties. Such circumstances can seriously test your faith.
Jesus teaches us that prayer is more than simply asking for what we desire. It is an expression of our dependence on God. He does not promise that every request will be answered immediately or exactly as we expect. In Matthew 7:9–11, Jesus compares God to a loving Father who gives good gifts to His children.
Therefore, we may continue praying without thinking that we can force God to do what we want. His wisdom goes beyond our limited understanding. Even when we do not understand His answer, He remains faithful.
Final Thought – God's Faithfulness Is Greater Than Your Doubts
When you cannot see a way forward, you do not have to remain silent. Tell Jesus what is on your heart. Trusting does not mean having all the answers, but continuing to hold on to the One who invites you to come to Him. Through Jesus Christ, we may approach the Father. His love remains, even when answers do not come.
Prayer – Teach Me to Trust in Your Faithfulness
Lord Jesus, when my prayers seem unanswered, give me the strength not to give up. Teach me to trust Your wisdom, even when I do not understand Your ways. Strengthen my faith, give me patience, and fill my heart with hope. Help me seek Your will and remain faithful in prayer. Amen.
