Perhaps This Is Your Moment
“I’ll think about God later.” Perhaps you have said that to yourself more than once. First, life needs to settle down. First, you want to understand more. Meanwhile, work, family, and appointments fill your days. But what if you can take a step today?
2 Peter 3:8–9 — Contemporary English Version
8 Dear friends, don't forget that for the Lord one day is the same as 1,000 years, and 1,000 years is the same as one day. 9 The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.
Historical Background
The first Christians expected Jesus to return. When it took longer than some had thought, others began to mock that hope. Had God forgotten His promise? The letter explains that God sees time differently from us. His patience gives people an opportunity to turn to Him.
Why Wait?
Perhaps you hear about Jesus at church on Sundays but keep putting aside the question of what you believe. Or perhaps you have never visited a church, yet you wonder whether your life has a deeper purpose.
You do not need to have all the answers first. Jesus invites you to be honest about your questions, your mistakes, and your longing for a new beginning. He died for our sins and rose from the dead. That is why you can ask Him for forgiveness and learn to trust Him.
Begin simply: tell Jesus what is on your mind. Read about Him in one of the Gospels. Ask someone who believes to read with you or pray with you.
A Final Thought
God’s patience gives you room to respond today. What step will you take toward Jesus?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I do not want to keep putting You off. Forgive me and help me get to know You. Teach me to trust You and follow You. Amen.
